Art, climate and space research
The mobile pavilion plays a central role in the second edition of the SHOWING STYRIA once again. While in 2021 it presented a panorama of diversity, using art and research to open up a new view of Styrian cultural landscapes, in 2023 it spans the arc from the regional to the outer space; it raises awareness of what surrounds us and what we take for granted: Atmospheres.
Mankind is at a point where many things have to change. Looking up at the sky has always been linked to the question of where humans are located in the world - where we come from, who we are, and where we are going. With art, climate and space research, the exhibition in the pavilion opens up new and unexpected perspectives.
Who are we in relation to nature, to the diversity of life? If we do not achieve the climate targets, there is a threat of increasing loss of life-friendly spaces on earth and at the same time landscapes will continue to be overused, polluted or destroyed - this is also shown by the new Styrian Climate Atlas 2023.

Young art and latest research
The exhibition in the pavilion shows young art and the latest research on atmospheres and asks about life-friendly conditions in times of climate change. The atmosphere is the vulnerable shell of the Earth, whose emergence has made the complex diversity of life possible in the first place. Its exploration on earth as well as on exoplanets in space poses the question of the uniqueness of life and sheds light on the fundamental conditions for life.
The leap from here to the cosmos and back, in the responsibility for life on earth, for the quality of living spaces and opportunities, forms the ambitious framework of this exhibition: it forges unusual alliances to gain new perspectives on familiar and pressing fields of action.
On the one hand, the pavilion offers a projection space in which video-space-sound installations can be seen on the walls and on the floor. On the other hand, it serves as an information carrier, for example by displaying the Styrian Climate Atlas 2023. In addition, it also carries out art projects with children. In the digital space, the exhibition contents are deepened.
